Isolation and the On Call
An Isolation Room has been introduced to protect the learning
loss of students in the Academy. Disruption may require the
involvement of the 'On Call' system when appropriate. If
employed, the student may be removed from the classroom to work in
isolation. A student can be placed in the Isolation Room if it is
judged appropriate to place a student in isolation from his/her
peers for a fixed period of time.
The Isolation Room is overseen by members of the Senior
Leadership Team and Middle Leaders. Persistent referral to the
Isolation Room may result in fixed term exclusion.
Before a student is removed from the classroom to the Isolation
Room, the school has a procedure in the behaviour policy for all
staff to follow when dealing with poor behaviour in the classroom.
This is known as the C system and all C's are recorded in
SIMs-the Academy's behaviour management system.
Whilst the student is based in the Isolation Room the following
guidance must be adhered to at all times:
- Students must complete all work given (completed work will be
marked by a member of staff and placed into the student's school
- Students must work in silence at all times.
- Students must follow all instructions given to them by all
staff at all times.
- Student work must be marked hour by hour by the lead member of
staff operating the room and the cover note attached.
