Teaching at Top Valley Academy

Learning and teaching are interactive.

It is important that we teach children how to "learn to learn" in order to become independent learners and develop skills for life-long learning.

It must be made explicit to students what they need to do to be successful in their learning and therefore focus on developing independence and resilience to the challenges that they will face in the classroom and more importantly in later life.

Top Valley Academy has a strong team of teachers and support staff who are supported by the sponsor and share learning and experiences with partner schools.

Collectively, we work with children and their families to make sure that each individual receives the support and encouragement that they need, to be their best.

We encourage a culture of continuous learning.

If you are a parent/carer and would like to understand more about what your child is learning, we encourage you to talk to the teachers and attend parents' evenings.  Equally, we would like to learn from you.  If you have ideas as to how learning could be more effective for your child, please let us know.

If you are a member of staff and you have ideas which would support the Academy and sponsor in achieving the vision to become the school of choice in the area, then please share these ideas with the Headteacher.
